Leaving the house in the winter is a struggle – as a person who prefers the comforts of candles, long baths and central heating, I can truly relate. So what is one to do when you not only have to leave your house but *shock-horror* dress-up as well? I say, go for the statement pieces – anything with fur, ruffles, fringe, sequins, etc. works. Didn’t think you could pull off – insert questionable trend of the moment? Now you can because everyone’s sartorial judgement is always a bit off kilter after a glass or two. Don’t forget about your favourite statement earrings, a berry lip and a cute little cross-body purse. A pair of over the knee boots is also non-negotiable. They look saucy with jeans and saucier with mini skirts. By now you will have seen my sensible, flat over the knee boots featured over and over again so I thought it was time to upgrade (literally) to a nice block heeled pair because I can’t do a stiletto to save my life. These have an 8cm thick heel which I think is the perfect, maximum comfort height. Finally, don’t be that person who rocks up sans coat – coat rooms and the backs of chairs were invented for a reason so bundle yourself in one of the lovely lush wrap coats that I’ve rounded up below.
