Over the Queen’s birthday long weekend, we drove up to Wiseman’s Ferry which is about 75km north-west of Sydney. From there, we made our way to Ford’s Farm which is one of three mandarin farms in Laughtondale. We haven’t been fruit picking in years so I was desperate to go this winter during the start of mandarin season. The fruit goes very fast and as of now, Ford’s Farm is temporarily closed but set to re-open in July for cumquats and Imperial mandarins. All throughout the incredibly wet week leading to the weekend I was hoping and hoping that it would clear up and by Monday, it was lovely and sunny! However, because it was a super foggy day, it might driving there a bit of a nightmare, we could hardly see 50m in front of us so the journey took a lot longer than we expected. After we hauled our stash of mandarins back to the car, we drove back out to Wiseman’s Ferry where we had lunch and toured the 1800s-style heritage rooms at the Wisemans Inn Hotel.
