Michelle Obama was a big fan of J.Crew (All the J.Crew Michelle Obama Wore as First Lady) and I can understand why. They do a mean jacket, fit (literally and figuratively) for a first lady, no less. Whatever’s good for the first lady is definitely good enough for me! When I slipped on this gorgeous navy ‘lady’ jacket, I fell in la la love with the fit and cutting. What drew me initially was the feminine ruffles, oversized military buttons and gold edging. When two wonderful things come together, you know you have the perfect piece to cure all workday blues! Inspired by the styling on their website, I layered a blue blouse and a red striped shirt underneath to march the military theme through. To top off this classic outfit, I opted for my most lady-like structured handbag in navy with gold hardware and another J.Crew favourite of mine – The Kiki Ballet Flat. Made of the softest leather in Italy, I am hoping they bring these back in some new colours. Crossing my fingers and toes for red, pink or green!

J.Crew has a great selection of beautifully tailored jackets. The ‘lady’ style I am wearing today is currently available with rickrack trim and black tweed! Scroll through to see a bunch of jackets that will take you from workday to weekends this autumn. I discovered J.Crew thanks to some of my favourite bloggers, see Blair Eadie from Atlantic Pacific wear the ric-rac jacket in her recent post here and Sarah Vickers from Classy Girls Wear Pearls wear the same lady jacket as me here. Who wore it better ?!?! 😉 Just kidding!
