A Few of my Favourite Autumn Things …

Once daylight saving ends and the easter long weekend starts, autumn truly hits us down here in Sydney. Granted our “autumn” can still hit 20 degrees most days when the sun is out, I have a love/hate relationship with the fine art of fall layering in the morning. Today, I wanted to share with you guys my autumnal essentials, pieces I wore last year that I’m bringing out again as well as new acquisitions to shake things up.

I only have two clothing items to share which is a testament to the importance of accessorising in updating your seasonal wardrobe. Both are from previous seasons and truly well loved! I can’t get enough of tweed at the moment and this is still one of my favourite jackets to wear because its much more interesting than a blazer with its button detailing, metallic threading and raw hem finishing. I prefer a slightly cropped cut as I find this the most flattering if you want to pair with a shift dress for work. In the spring and summer, I tend to stay away from black but a great fitting pair of black skinny jeans will always make its way back into my repertoire. I’m due for an update in my denim wardrobe as these are the only pair I own and they have knee rips that don’t actually sit over my knees!

ASOS sent me these over the knee boots last year but I was a bit shy about wearing them so they only made very few appearances. I’ve brought them out in full confidence this month and cannot to wear them a ton more. They do wonders for your legs with mini skirts but if you’re worried they look too gaudy, I would start pairing them with black jeans for a subtle play with textures and once you feel more comfortable, graduate to grey denim, blue and even white! By then you might even want to look at block heeled versions and in other colours 😉 A statement belt really elevates your final look and this ring belt is still one of my favourite finds from the spring. I like the simplicity of the design as I find the ever so instagrammable Gucci belt to be a little too brand whorish for my taste. Blanket scarves never fail to make an appearance in the fall but instead of the usual plaid and earth tones, why not look to some other patterns to add unexpectedness? This paisley navy number has made a great transition from summer beach coverup to the perfect crisp morning neck warmer.

So that’s it! All my most reached for pieces this past month which has made mornin’ dressin’ a tinge bit easier even though burrowing further down my comforter would be my number one choice of #ootd if that was possible … which I guess it might be with the easter long weekend starting tomorrow!!! Just kidding! I could never let a precious extra few days slip away like that and will be packing my days with some fun plans, what are you getting up to this Easter?
