Remember this loose fitting floral dress from the spring? I wore it an inappropriate amount last season and continue to do so now but as the weather begins to cool, I’ve been reaching for this warmer, navy number. When I first picked it up (inspired by The Londoner and her love of good quality, well priced basics) I had instant buyer’s remorse. The navy and white was a classic but it was too loose and I didn’t think I was tall enough to really wear the dress well.
Cue to a surprisingly chilly hump day morning a fortnight ago where I was hotfooting it out my bedroom door to catch the train and in an absolute hurry I threw this dress on and laced a belt around my waist. No time to toss up whether the outfit was flattering or not, it wasn’t until I got to work, checked myself out (HEYO we all do it) in the bathroom mirror and thought hey we have a new go-to piece for the next few months! Silly me to not think of this simple tailoring trick because going back to Rosie’s post made me realise she too had popped a belt on and that girl has legs for days! To keep the rest of the outfit clean and modern, I went with all round motifs – a bucket bag, round sunnies and my go-to earrings.
Now that I’m well satisfied with this dress, I am slightly remorseful over the fact that I never got the red and the light blue versions as well. Ah! What’s your go-to item in your work wardrobe at the moment?
