Holla! As you’re reading this, I’m going to be on my way to the Sydney Kingsford Smith airport. I’m holidaying in Hawaii for just over a week and am super excited to soak in a new environment. This past week I was temporarily working in a new area which gave me the opportunity to explore a part of Sydney that I don’t frequent too often. You can see some snaps of my week through my iPhone below. If you’re ever in Milsons Point, you should hit up these spots: Flaky Tart for a good pie or pastry, Bay Ten Espresso for your afternoon pick me up, North Sydney pool to decompress after a long day and Lavendar Bay gardens for a picnic lunch with a free view of The Opera House, Harbour Bridge and little sail boats – midday bliss!
Watching: The latest episode of Black-ish. Although I am not American, like a lot of the Western world, the 2016 U.S election was still on my radar for most of the year. With the inauguration just a week away, the latest episode of Black-ish came at the perfect time. This was the funniest episode of the season yet it had the most serious and thoughtful storyline. It reminded me of why I love a good sitcom in the first place; something that makes people laugh but also think. This episode brought a great sense of perspective as well as hope and optimism.
I also watched Passengers with J Law and Chris Pratt. The setting was very very cool but my main problem with the film was the chemistry between the leads. I just couldn’t believe it enough to root for them. An interesting watch but not something I would revisit.
Reading: Covering Bases’ latest post. I really admire bloggers that have day jobs and still continue to moonlight as creative influencers year after year. New Yorker, Krista Robertson is one of those people. I really like her snappy take on body image in her latest post after a trip to Hawaii (yeah we’re basically sisters haha!). I want to emphasise her point about bloggers photoshopping themselves to be thinner than they really are. Its really such a shame and undermines the whole point of writing a personal style blog in the first place. Readers go to blogs to be inspired by how every day people get dressed not how a model gets primped and primed and stretched in post production. Please leave the photoshop to the magazines.
Listening: I’ve been really into Coldplay at the moment so anything by them but I’ve especially been loving Christmas Lights. Yup, Christimas music in January. To be fair, it’s the least obnoxiously festive song you could listen to anyways. Also ‘Paris’ by Chainsmokers is amazing, I listen to it and feel like I’m in a black and white Hepburn film
Wondering: In Ariana Huffington’s Thrive, she reiterates the fact that taking a break doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the country and flying as far away from your work as possible. It’s really a state of mind more than anything else. So for the rest of this Sunday, I challenge you to take it off. Have a nice long dinner outside and then start something you’ve been wanting to do but keep putting it off whether it’s a bit of cleaning up, a new book or just a call to an old friend.

Buying: Summer for me means lots of lovely breathable fabrics. Sportscraft have some really well made linen pieces and I always find a good trendy but not too over the top accessory like this straw bag with a zip. As much as I love the pom pom and tassels that are adorning the latest beach bags, this one will take me further and the practicality of the zip sold me completely. I’m excited to be partnering with Teasdale later in the summer this year. They are a new towel company specialising in super lightweight yet very absorbent towels that come in gorgeous designs. How stinking cute is my flamingo towel, I can’t wait to thrown it into my beach bag and the best thing is they’re really light to carry!
Eating: Royal Stacks burgers. I saw this being instagrammed a lot last year and I was like woah its like In n Out where is this place, probably someplace cool and far away in the inner west? So when my friend said it was just in my local mall, I was super stoked. They do juicy burgers, milkshakes, frozen custards and cheese fries. An entrée to my American eats in just a few days!
